Dina Titus files for Congressional District 3 PDF Print E-mail

titus_files.jpgMay 13, 2008 - Sen. Dina Titus today filed as a candidate for Congressional District 3, promising to bring Nevada values and common sense to Washington.

“This race isn’t going to be personal, it’s going to be about the issues,” Titus said. “I’m going to be a champion for people in Congressional District 3.”

Titus, who has served in the state Senate for 20 years, was joined by her husband and state Sens. Valerie Weiner and Bob Coffin.  As he did 20 years ago when Titus first ran for state Senate, Coffin paid Titus’ candidate filing fee.

Titus told reporters she has always tracked the issues affecting Nevada in Washington, and as Congresswoman will especially focus on pursuing renewable energy sources in Nevada instead of giving the tax breaks to Big Oil companies that Jon Porter has supported. She also noted that we are now spending $5,000 a second in Iraq — money that could be used for families that need it here at home.

Titus said her campaign has “gone from zero to 60 in less than 10 seconds.” She expects to open a campaign office and announce her campaign leadership team in the coming weeks.
