Dina Titus Announces Candidacy for 1st Congressional District

Will fight to get economy moving and create jobs

Las Vegas—Today, with supporters, Dina Titus officially kicked off her campaign for Nevada’s 1st Congressional seat. She made her announcement at the Dina Titus Estates—an affordable housing complex for people with disabilities that was dedicated to her in recognition of her tireless advocacy for the disadvantaged.

“I am running for Congress in Nevada District 1 in order to turn this economy around and create jobs for people in Southern Nevada,” stated Titus.

“After spending my adult life fighting for women and children, protecting individual right and freedoms, safeguarding our environment, and defending seniors, people with disabilities, and our four legged friends, I can’t stand on the sidelines,” Titus said, “I can’t just watch as the tax burden shifts increasingly away from billionaires and onto the shoulders of those who can least afford it.”

“I know this district. I love the people of this district,” Titus said of her strong connection to the newly drawn District 1. Not only has she and her family lived here for decades, Titus also represented District 1 residents for 20 years in the Nevada State Senate, and again in the U.S. Congress from 2009-2011. Her record during that time is as long as it is impressive as she stood up time and again to protect the middle class and the most vulnerable.  She always puts the people before the powerful.

Titus pledged to continue that work if elected. Specifically, she said strengthening the middle class and creating jobs would be among her top priorities. Titus also called for an end to tax breaks for corporations that ship American jobs overseas, as well as more decisive action to address the housing crisis that District 1 continues to grapple with.
