Two congressional representatives traveled to UNLV to provide the educational community with a progress report on the state of education and labor across the country.

Nevada Congresswoman Dina Titus and Texas Congressman Ruben Hinojosa met at the UNLV Student Union on Aug. 3 to field questions on education, politics and the economy.

Titus and Hinojosa held a meeting with representatives of local educational institutions to discuss changes in congressional policy concerning education and labor.

Afterward, the two representatives stayed behind to discuss everything from Titus’s opponent, Joe Heck, to the origins of the economic meltdown of 2008.

“I’m talking about what I’ve done,” Titus said after the event, sitting beside Hinojosa in a Student Union conference room.

Wrong race! Wrong office! But nice colors!

Joe Heck, currently challenging Congresswoman Dina Titus for the 3rd Congressional District, might want to deal with this blast-from-the-past sign, which my spies report is currently up on Sunset Road in Henderson.

Yeah, that’s the wrong office! Heck hasn’t been a candidate for state Senate since 2008, when he was defeated by Shirley Breeden. And he’s certainly not running for re-election. I know mistakes happen on campaigns, but the mistakes are much easier to see when they’re on huge signs, no?

At an event today in the U.S. Capitol, Rep. Dina Titus and other members of a new Seniors Task Force worked to remind elderly voters that it is the Democrats who are passing health care reform and other bills deemed senior-friendly.

The 30-member group, headed by Reps. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., and Doris Matsui, D-Calif., put Democrats squarely on record in favor of senior citizens' rights to economic security, quality health care, protections from scams and "safe and livable communities"

"This Congress and this administration already are doing a lot to work on senior issues," Titus said.
