LCV Action Fund Endorses Dina Titus for Re-Election in Nevada’s 3rd District

Washington, DC - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund,
which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental
policies, today announced its endorsement of Dina Titus (NV-03) for
re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives.

“In just one term in office, Congresswoman Titus has been a strong
champion of legislation that will bring thousands of clean energy jobs
to Nevada, cut carbon pollution and reduce our dangerous dependence on
foreign oil,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “We are proud to
endorse Congresswoman Titus for re-election because she has fought to
make Nevada a leader in building the clean energy economy we need to
keep America’s competitive edge.”

Rep. Titus voted for the House-passed American Clean Energy and
Security Act that would help create over 10,500 clean energy jobs in
Nevada*, reduce carbon pollution and increase energy independence. She
also supported the single largest investment in clean energy in
history – more than $80 billion for energy efficiency, renewable
energy and public transit in the economic recovery package, with
substantial investments going to Nevada’s 3rd district to help build a
21st-century electrical grid and retrofit homes and offices for energy
efficiency.

"I am honored to receive the support of the League of Conservation
Voters and the members they represent in the Silver State," said
Congresswoman Titus.  "With unemployment at a record high in Southern
Nevada, it is critical that we focus our efforts on creating good jobs
that will put people back to work.  Creating jobs locally will require
innovation in Nevada’s growing renewable energy industries.  By
investing in our abundant renewable resources such as sun, wind, and
geothermal, we can create clean energy jobs that will not only
diversify our economy, but protect our environment as well.”

LCV Action Fund endorsed Rep. Dina Titus in 2008. As state Senate
Minority Leader, Titus led the charge to develop solar and wind energy
in Nevada and drove legislation to require green power standards for
utility companies.  In 2007, Titus was honored with the Nevada
Renewable Energy Leadership Award. She strongly supported legislation
that established a target of generating 20% of the state's electricity
from renewable sources by 2015.

"Congresswoman Dina Titus supports building a clean energy economy
that will put Nevadans back to work while reducing harmful carbon
pollution,” said Scot Rutledge, Executive Director of the Nevada
Conservation League. “She has been a tireless advocate for both the
environment and Nevada workers for almost three decades and we look
forward to her continued leadership."
