Titus Elected Regional Whip

HENDERSON, NV (November 19, 2008) – Congresswoman-elect Dina Titus announced today that she was elected as one of two Democratic Whips from Region 5 yesterday evening by her colleagues.  As Regional Whip for the 111th Congress, Titus will work closely with Majority Whip James Clyburn of South Carolina to build consensus for the Democratic agenda and pass legislation in the House of Representatives.

“It is an honor to be selected by my colleagues to represent our region as a member of the Whip team,” Congresswoman-elect Titus said. “I look forward to the opportunity to work with Whip Clyburn to move forward a legislative agenda that takes Nevada and our nation in a new direction by creating jobs and getting our economy back on track.  As Regional Whip, I will make sure that hard-working families in the Third District have a greater voice in the legislative process.”

“I’m pleased to have Dina Titus join my Whip Organization and help me bring members of the Mountain West together behind legislation to create jobs, strengthen our economy and establish America’s energy independence,” said Whip Clyburn.  “With her help we can move this country in a new direction.”

The Democratic Caucus is divided into 12 regions.  Region 5 is comprised of members from Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
